He is my Safety [Day 3]
Updated: Dec 11, 2022

Shortly after Jesus found me, I started to think that all my troubles had completely disappeared. I mean I was on fire for God, so much that my whole life shifted in a matter of weeks. I thought with my salvation, I was going to be this supernatural force to be reckoned with and all the enemies' plans would fail; and life was going to be peaceful and amazing the rest of my days.
Spoiler Alert: Life doesn't work that way; almost especially walking with Jesus. Life quickly began to get more difficult and my faith was challenged more times than I count; and there's going to be times it's going to happen again.
The difference, though, is not that life gets easier with Jesus, but that we get transformed into stronger people through the trials. Our faith gets tested, but it also grows and strengthens in the times of trouble. Until we reach a point where we trust God even when nothing else seems to make sense. (I don't know if I'm completely there, yet) However, compared to the beginning of my walk with Jesus, I feel confident when I say: it is all worth it at the end of the dark tunnel.
Let's see what our breakdown of the next verse from Psalm 91 has in store for us today:
Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. Psalms 91:3 NIV
He Himself will rescue you from the bird trap, from the destructive plague. Psalms 91:3 CSB
For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. Psalms 91:3 NLT
For it is He who rescues you from the net of the trapper and from the deadly plague. Psalms 91:3 NASB2020
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. Psalms 91:3 NJVK
For He will deliver you from the trap of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. Psalms 91:3 AMP
In other words, surely, absolutely, it's undeniably certain: God will deliver us from the trap of the enemy; keeping us away from evil and temptation. And He will deliver us from the deadly pestilence or plague which is sin!
We get this benefit of being a child of God, for free! All we have to do is ask; go to our Heavenly Father and pray to Him, talk with Him, read His Word with all the love letters He wrote to us, just sit with Him and get to know Him. He is good and He is faithful to deliver us from our troubles.
The Bible doesn't say all our troubles will go away. If anything, Scripture warns us of the trials and troubles yet to come in each of our walks; but yet, Jesus makes it all possible with His sacrifice. Father God made it possible with His love. Holy Spirit makes it possible each and every day with His guidance, counsel, encouragement, and conviction. So do not lose heart, brothers and sisters! Let's not let challenges keep us away from God, but rather learn to run to Him in those times for His safety and peace.
- Challenge -
Think about the hardest thing you've experienced in your life. Imagine yourself carrying that problem/experience/feeling/situation in the palm of your hands. Now imagine yourself, literally, laying it down at the altar, or laying it down at Jesus' feet. Then ask your Heavenly Father to take it from you. Ask Him then, to walk with you in laying it down every time you pick it back up again, until it doesn't weigh as heavily on your heart anymore. Pray for peace, for strength, for an abundance of grace, and for guidance in what to do during this time.
Reading the challenge and participating in it are two completely different things; and I understand how difficult this is to implement (trust me, I feel like I'm writing this for me, too).
But if I may: think of how much time has already passed by with you holding that pain in your heart. Everyone is special in how they process and deal with their emotions, but giving it to God doesn't have to wait until you feel better. And of course, you don't have to do anything anyone tells you, but if you could answer these questions: Do you want to be free? Do you want to be healed?
If the answer is yes, duh? Then try out the challenge even for a day and see if something, anything at all, shifts for you in your heart or in your life.
- Closing Prayer -
Father God, we thank You for Your presence in each of our lives, whether we sense it or not, we can rest in knowing You will never leave us. We thank You for hearing us and loving us through each season, Lord God. We thank You for the work You are doing in each of our hearts, Lord God, that we can trust that since You have started, You will also complete in us.
Heavenly Father, we pray for an abundance of grace and love during our times of trouble or trials, Lord. We pray for strength when we feel at our weakest. We pray for confidence when we feel like we've lost sight of who we are. We pray for the wisdom and understanding for how to walk in righteousness even when our hearts are burdened, Father God. We pray for Your joy and peace that goes beyond our understanding, Lord God, to fill our hearts and minds as we come to You and lay our burdens at Your feet. Lord God, I pray for all that is not of You to flee in Your Holy and Mighty Name, I pray for the enemies plans to fail, and for Your children to receive fresh revelation that the victory is already Yours, Lord God. I pray for all of our hearts and minds to be protected under Your Almighty shadow, Father God. I pray for us all to be delivered from temptation and any evil that comes our way, Lord.
We thank You for this in faith and hope Lord God, because as it is written: "It is finished!"
In Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
