Trust in the Lord [Day 10]

Updated: Dec 11, 2022

There's many moments throughout my faith journey thus far that I've needed rescuing. Whether it was trial and error in discerning God's voice in the beginning, or just me trying to do things in my own strength; I've needed to be bailed out of a couple of pits. I know that with relationship with God, things will get easier. But for those of us, stuck in a pit right meow, this verse is for us.

Let's jump right in, shall we, friends:

“Because he loves Me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name. Psalms 91:14 NIV
Because he has his heart set on Me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows My Name. Psalms 91:14 CSB
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My Name. Psalms 91:14 NLT
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. Psalms 91:14 NKJV
Because he set his love on Me, therefore I will save him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no, never]. Psalms 91:14 AMP

My favorite versions are the CSB and the AMP for this verse. Those who set their hearts on Jesus, can get into some trouble; but He will always be faithful and gracious to pull us out of the pits....even the ones we dug for ourselves. Which testifies to the goodness of God, in all situations throughout every generation since the beginning of time. Praise God.

The Lord promises to never abandon us. There's not a pit we dig that He considers the last straw, in His unfailing love and abounding grace, He is pleased when we go to Him for rescue and deliverance. He delights in the moments we surrender and admit we need our Heavenly Father to step in for us. He loves us that it gives Him joy to see us succeed, so He can shower His blessings over us.

Not to mention, in the moments of trouble is when God truly shows us that we can trust Him. Because out of all the ideas, plans, or attempts I've brought forth trying to work my own way out of a mess; the only time it worked when was I called on my Heavenly Father. He takes the glory for all the success in my life; and He will take the glory for the rest of my life. Because He will continue to pick my back up when I fall, comfort me when I cry, and love me in every moment. We can all safely put our trust in our Lord God, because there hasn't been one time He's failed us or let us down; even when the world might say differently, God always has a bigger plan.

- Challenge -

Practice waiting. (This one's for me.) Choose something that you know in your heart needs the Lord's stamp of approval on before proceeding. Lay your burdens, all your thoughts, comments, concerns, requests, doubts, etc., at the Lord's feet. Allow Him to pick it up.

Then until He reveals a piece of His will with us in that area, don't worry about it. Don't pick it back up again. Don't meditate on it; every time you think about it, just submit it to the Lord again, until something in you shifts.

Difficulty Level: Impossible - without God.

- Closing Prayer -

Father God, I thank You for Your unfailing love. I thank You for Your endless rescue missions and Your faithfulness in all areas of my life. I thank You for Your perfect will for each of our lives, Lord God. I thank You for the breath in our lungs that signifies we have another day, another opportunity to get closer to You; and become more like You.

Lord, I pray for all that is not of You, to be shut down and permanently closed. That You rebuke the enemy for His plans of confusion and distraction from our assignment in this season Lord God. I pray that Your will be revealed to each of us pertaining to where You would have us, Father God. I pray for the path that is from You to be paved clear with Your joy and peace, Lord God so that all doubts be burned in the fire.

I pray for all of those who are searching for You, that You go and rescue them; as Your Word says Lord God, You will leave the 99 for the 1 sheep that went astray. I pray for those who don't know You, Lord God, that they come to know You and that their hearts would be made new. That their hearts would be crafted with a fiery passion for Your presence and Your Word and for prayer, Lord God. I pray for those during the holiday season, that need comforting, Lord God, that You would send an army of angels to wrap them warmly in Your presence and welcome them home to You.

I pray that Your love prevails over all battles we're facing, that Your peace prevails over the worried thoughts this season Lord God. I pray for all hearts to be soothed and made whole, with Your grace and deliverance.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
